Smart Mini-Greenhouse IoT Enclosure Design

We designed the mechanical enclosure for a smart IoT-controlled mini-greenhouse developed for GrowDirector. The project involved creating a compact, modular structure capable of housing lighting, ventilation, irrigation, and sensor systems within a single integrated unit suitable for indoor, agricultural, and research environments.

The frame was designed using aluminium extrusion profiles for light weight and modularity, allowing the enclosure to be assembled and reconfigured without specialist tools. Panel and glazing attachment details were developed to provide the structural rigidity needed to support mounted equipment. Ventilation fan mounting positions were incorporated into the structural layout to support consistent internal airflow across the growing area.

Electronics and sensor integration requirements were coordinated with the mechanical design from the start, with cable routing paths and component mounting points built into the frame layout. The client received complete CAD models and manufacturing drawings for all custom components, enabling production of the enclosure for biological, culinary, and research applications.
