EXPLOSION-VENTED CYCLONE SUPPORT FRAME

FEA-optimized steel support frame engineered to withstand operational vibration and transient explosion-vent loading while reducing structural weight and material requirements.

Project Description

KS Projects developed a robust steel support frame for an industrial cyclonic filtration system equipped with explosion relief panels.

The structure needed to withstand both routine operational loads and the short-duration dynamic forces associated with a potential vented dust explosion.

A detailed 3D CAD model was developed and evaluated using nonlinear FEA, structural analysis, and dynamic load simulations.

Multiple loading scenarios were analyzed to identify high-stress regions, evaluate deformation, and determine where structural material could be removed without compromising the required strength and safety margins.

Material selection and structural geometry were optimized to achieve an effective strength-to-weight ratio while maintaining practical fabrication requirements.

Design for Manufacturing principles were also incorporated to simplify fabrication, assembly, and installation.

Engineering Capabilities

  • 3D CAD Modeling – Complete structural frame geometry

  • Nonlinear FEA – Stress and deformation analysis

  • Dynamic Load Analysis – Evaluation of transient loading scenarios

  • Structural Engineering – Frame, stiffener, and connection optimization

  • Material Selection – Steel selection based on strength, weight, and manufacturability

  • Design for Manufacturing – Simplified fabrication and assembly

  • Technical Documentation – Manufacturing and assembly drawings
